Chaud

Created in 2027

Whilst we learn geography and maths at school, where do we learn to love?

In CHAUD, a fictional classroom is transformed into a joyful playground when a sex education lesson turns the conventions of teaching on their head… The pupils are treated to a comedy cabaret where anything goes: stand-up comedy, dance, music and group discussion. Amidst bursts of music and words finally set free, questions about intimacy, social norms and self-acceptance become a light-hearted topic that is easier to tackle. We celebrate freedom of expression and everyone’s individual boundaries. We explore listening to others and offering support in the quest for self-discovery through the affirmation of one’s desires.

CHAUD is the creation of a production dedicated to teenagers, written with inspiration drawn from them.

We are seeking an inclusive style of writing that respects everyone’s personal space and isn’t too ‘embarrassing’ (as Délia, aged 14, 3eC, would say).

Through the creation of a theatrical production and various discussion sessions and workshops, CHAUD also aims to tackle ‘hot’ topics – that is, taboos that can lead to isolation – whilst respecting people’s need for privacy. It is the search for a framework that facilitates self-expression, safely and joyfully, by discussing intimate topics with simplicity, pleasure and curiosity.

PS: Nobody says ‘boomer’ anymore; we’re ‘oldies’ (Jonas, aged 18, Year 13)
