Wyrd (création 2028)
A performance for the crack of dawn, designed for loading docks, quays, or waste collection sites.
Echoing her previous work *Liesse(s)*, Yaëlle Antoine revisits *Lames Soeurs*—her first circus piece, created in 2007. Inspired by the notorious Papin sisters case, the original work depicted the sordid daily lives of two sisters—both maids—as they hurtled toward an inevitable fate. This real-life event inspired Jean Genet to write *The Maids* and fascinated the young Jacques Lacan, who made it the subject of his thesis.
Built upon a dramaturgy of imbalance, the piece used its staging to examine power dynamics between women.
Yaëlle Antoine’s new creation, *Wyrd*, offers a poetic immersion into the labyrinthine nature of traumatic memory. Through strange apparitions and a non-linear narrative, it explores dissociation, resilience, and solidarity amidst a pervasive sense of unreality.
The production features a minimalist set—a web of lines at varying heights—alongside vocal elements and circus-style movement, with choreography that focuses on imbalance and contortion.
